For more than 30 years, Ombudsman’s course for credit and credit recovery program has helped at-risk middle and high school students earn a diploma. These students can earn new or recover credits they have lost because of school transfers, truancy, skill deficiencies, suspension or expulsion. Our course for credit and credit recovery program allows students who have fallen behind to catch up and graduate.
Credit that Counts
Ombudsman helps students earn credits that transfer to their
referring school. Earning necessary credits means they can return to their
district school at their grade level or graduate. Transcripts are sent
to the school district reflecting credits and grades earned at
Ombudsman.
Credit Recovery
Students often need to recover lost credits because of:
- Transferring schools
- Moving from another state or country
- Long-term suspension
- Expulsion
- Failing courses
- Missing classes because of truancy
Courses for Credit
Some students may want to pick up an additional course so they can earn credits toward promotion or graduation. With the approval of their school district, these students can take one or more classes at Ombudsman to earn credits in courses such as English or language arts, social studies, science, math and various electives. Students demonstrate a 90 percent mastery level on each concept before moving on to the next concept.
Results
Eighty-five percent of Ombudsman students graduate, earn credits or return to their district school closer to or at grade level. Graduates pursue a variety of post-secondary education and employment opportunities.
